China Adventure

I had gone to china a few months ago and I wrote this piece of writing about it but I forgot to publish it

Terracotta warriors

There were 2000 terracotta warriors just in one pit. So one day a group of farmers wanted water for the farm so the dug a well. But instead of water they found 1 terracotta warrior. They didn't know what it was. The first one was found in 1974. When they were first found the terracotta was all in little pieces. Then they go to the terracotta warriors hospital where they get fixed. They used to have colour but when they hit oxygen the colour is gone. There are three levels of warriors. Leader governor and solider. In pit one there is still 5000-6000 warriors still underground. Terracotta is an Italian word. Terra means clay and cotta means like oven cooked.

Desert adventure

It was so fun. There was so much sand and no water. We were going to play in the sand and ride camels. I got a white camel to ride on. When it got up off the ground it was kind of scary. But once we got moving it was so fun. The camel behind me kept sneezing and sneezing. I really scared me. I called it the angry camel. Later in the day we went into a car that was made for the sand to get back to the start and later we went to play in the sand. The view was amazing. The yellow river below you the warm sand between your toes wind blowing through your hair. The best feeling ever.

Famous street in China

One day we went to a famous street in China. There was food and sweets and accessories. It was so so busy. So many people everywhere and it was so busy. The smell of all the food was so good. There was so many people everywhere but what there was even more of was food. Lots of delicious Chinese food that made my tummy rumble. There were Chinese hamburgers, dumplings, sweets, and of course a giant candy floss. There was so much food to eat it was a hard choice of what we had for dinner but we choose dumplings. They were the best dumplings I had ever had.

Dear Future Self.....

Hi future self. Do you remember the time when you were in GRi11 2.0? If you don't, take a second to think about it.

Well in 2016 you were a part of GRi11 2.0. GRi11 2.0 was the name of your class. ‘ G ‘ stands Gordon. ‘ R ‘  stands for Robertson. ‘ i ‘ stands for 10. ‘ 11 ‘ stands for 11. Your teachers were Miss G and Mr R. Miss G loved music and Mr R loved sport.

That year was your best year at C.S.N.S. You learnt how to use google products like drive and docs and sheets and classroom. Ever since you started to manage your own learning, like choosing where I sit and what you do, you never went back to learning when the teacher tells you what to do. Also you were making your way through agency and the agency target.

I have made so many great memories in GRi11 2.0.

  • Camp
  • Sports coaching
And many more.

Exciting. Challenging. Fun. Amazing. Horses. Glow worms. Water slide.
That was your camp experience. It all started off when you went for a trip in Danny’s Car ( Aisha’s Dad ). You went for a trip to Ashurst. And when you were about to get there, in the middle of the road, we were turning around in circle at the intersection. Danny was asking what way to go.

Another highlight at camp was the Glow Worm cave. It felt magical inside. Later that night, we went to the glow worm cave. It was cold and slippery but exciting at the same time. You could see all the little Glow Worms glowing on the ceiling. The water was cold on your toes and it was sinking into your shoes. You didn’t care because it was magical.

Mr R gave you a chance to be a sports coach. The moment he proudly announced my name to be a sports coach was a great feeling. You could coach Badminton for the Seniors, Badminton for middles and Games for the juniors. You could also coach circuits.

I would like to thank Mr R for being my teacher and giving me all these sports opportunities like table tennis, futsal and sports coaching. Also I loved the EPro 8 challenge. Building a robot car was awesome. I would also like to thank Miss G for giving me a lot of music opportunities like kids for kids.
Thank you for being helpful in 2016!

Thanksgiving

This term we have been learning about cultural diversity. We had to do an inquiry about culture. I choose Thanksgiving.

Some of you may know about Thanksgiving and what it is about.
My question was How do people celebrate Thanksgiving?

What is Thanksgiving?
Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated in North America, Canada and America. In Canada, it is celebrated it the second Monday of October. In America, it is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. It is a time for family's to come together, enjoy a large feast and thank each other for what they have.

What do you eat on the day of Thanksgiving?
Traditional food on Thanksgiving is a must have. When thanksgiving became a national holiday, Turkey wasn't on the menu. Neither was potatoes or pumpkin pie. CRAZY!!! Most people on Thanksgiving day like to enjoy, Turkey, Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, Cranberry Sauce, Stuffing, Pecan Pie, Pumpkin pie, Gravy, Corn and Green beans.

History of Thanksgiving.
On the first Thanksgiving holiday, it wasn't a big meal, it was a three day festival of hunting eating and other entertainments. Also in 1789, president George Washington announced the first national Thanksgiving holiday. It was to celebrate the success of the fall harvest.

Athletics

On Wednesday 2 weeks ago, it was the C.S.N.S Athletics Day. Each year, there are 6 main events and 6 championship events. The main events are long jump, high jump, shot put, long distance, sprints and hurdles. My favourite events are long jump, high jump and sprints. This year I entered in 2 championship events. They were long jump and sprints. I thought that I did really well. At the end of the day, there were house relays. I was in the Kea relay team. After all the kids relays, there was a parent vs teachers vs young leaders relay. I was part of that to. I love athletics at College Street but this year was my last athletics at College Street. I love athletics.
GO KEA!

Yearbook entry

Post 7 of the blog post challenge. This year will be my last year at C.S.N.S. Each year children leave my school, we get a yearbook to remember our time at College street. Each person has to write something they enjoyed about C.S.N.S to put in the yearbook.
Here is my entry for the 2016 yearbook.

My earliest memory at C.S.N.S was when I was in New entrants and I had lost my tooth at morning tea. I got my friend to hold it. Suddenly she sneezed and my tooth fell under the deck. I am a successful College Street kid because I try my best at most things and I take most opportunities that are thrown at me. I have improved in spelling, maths and boosting my confidence by having a growth mindset and speaking in front of others. My highlights at College street are coming second and first in swimming sports, building a robot car in the EPRO-8 challenge and being in GRi11 2.0 and having cool teachers and classmates. The things I will miss most about College Street is being mufti. I have been involved in Dance NZ Made, Kids for Kids, Weet-bix tryathlon, Road patrol, Futsal, EPRO-8, Badminton, Sports coaches, Mathex and Table tennis. Next year I’m going to P.N.I.N.S. I will try my hardest to earn all my blue badges. In the future I would like to be a professional swimmer, dancer or a flight attendant.

Bike safety

Post 6 of the Blog Post Challenge

Next year we are going to P.N.I.N.S. We can walk bike or drive to school. This term a police came in and taught us about road rules and how to be safe while biking on the road. The police taught us how to indicate and that being on the road is more safe than biking on the footpath. After the presentation he took us outside to put on our helmets. He taught us how to put on a helmet the proper way.

After lunch we got to try out all the things that the police had taught us. On the quad there were round-a-bouts, intersections, roads and right turns. We had a ride around all the things so we could feel what being on the road would be about. After that we had a competition to see which group, group 1 or group 2 could have more people on the road after 3 minutes. We had to follow the road rules otherwise we would get kicked off the road.
I am really excited to go to P.N.I.N.S next year and maybe I will bike to school.

Break-Out Education

Post 5 of the Blog Post Challenge

This term we had a challenge to unlock a lock. It tests our communication skills and how we work as a team. First Mr R showed us a little video about what we had to do. We had to unlock a combination of locks to save the Galaxy. The whole thing was a star wars theme.

We had found a box with medals and a UV light. That led to finding a clue on a music sheet. The clue on the music sheet was the password to yet another lock. This lock was a word lock. Inside there was a USB. On the USB there was a clue to solve a lock. Inside the black box that my group had found earlier were some medals. On the back of the medals were numbers. The numbers helped solve a number lock. In the video we saw earlier, there was a clue. ' Another Jedi's trash is another Jedi's Treasure.' I immediately went to the rubbish bin. Under it was a key that opened another lock. Soon we had cracked all the locks. Inside was a prize. Some chocolates!

Break-out education was really fun and tested all my skills.

The lucky hat

Post 4 of the Blog Post Challenge

I had entered this writing competition and it rules were that you had to write a narrative.

I was standing on the edge of the boat saying my last goodbyes to my family and friends. I had to go on this voyage so my family could get what we needed. We were very poor. My family was relying on me. It felt like all the weight on the family and piled on my tiny shoulders. That very day I was wearing my very lucky sailors hat and my stripy red and white top. I was leaving my relatives to go on a boat voyage to the Pacific Oceans.

As the night fell I became more and more scared as we set off for sail. Our boat was called the ’lucky jelly’. It was old and jagged and was a brown oak color. My job was to catch the fish. At this point of the voyage I really truly missed my family. I wanted to go home.

When the sun rises the boat is awake and a new day has begun. We race to the kitchen to scavenge for anything we could eat. I managed to find a few pieces of bread and a tea bag. After I devoured all that I could find I went to my cabin to grab my fishing gear. My goal was to catch my daily fish so I could solve my starvation problem. In the evening the  above looks like a pretty picture. When the ocean is calm I like to sit on the edge of the boat and admire everything around me.

Once the sun has crawled down, I would of finished fishing so the cook can cook dinner. Sometimes when I wait for catch of the day, I like to sit and enjoy it while it lasts. In my mind, I like to think what the day has done to me and my life. Sometimes I have multiple thoughts running through my head, I don’t know what to think. When the fish is ready we race to the dining room to get our dinner. After the feast we get ready to transform into normal people and sleep for the night. As I sleep, the stars a winking at me. At night, the sea is very rough and the wind howls like fierce wolves. The waves are crashing upon the near broken boat. The clouds are glum and the sky is crying.
As the night grows, the sky makes more and more noises. I couldn’t get to sleep.

I woke up to the sounds of the sea. I found myself in the cold deep Pacific Oceans, swimming in the middle of nowhere. “At least I got to my destination.” a little voice cried in my head. I thought to myself, this couldn’t possibly happen to me! I couldn’t spot any other members from my voyage with my beady little eyes. ‘I guess i’m a man of himself now.” My eyes crept around my surroundings trying to spot land. Suddenly I saw a little island not far off from where I must of drifted off in the night. I began to swim rapidly towards the little island. I thought to myself my hat isn’t so lucky after all now.

Once I was on safe land I began to search for food, shelter or anyone that could help me get back to my ship or back home. It was only day three of the voyage and 1 man had already gone overboard. I found a few coconuts at the top of a very steep tree. I had to climb so high that I lost grip and tumbled back to the bottom. My hands felt the top of my head and I soon realised that my very lucky hat had disappeared. I had to think of another plan if I wanted to survive. I found my hat lying on a bed of seaweed. I adjusted it on my head. Underneath that very bed, I found a beautiful chest made of oak and gold. I was ecstatic to open the chest. Could this be the jackpot I had been looking for?

Inside I found a note. It said, you have found a jackpot. You will choose to go back home right now or stay here and wait for someone to come and save you. Remember they might come in 1 year. They might come in 37 months. You will never know. If you choose to stay you can receive whatever you wanted for 56 months. I knew that my family would be worried whatever happens so I decided to go home right that very moment. The voyage was meant to go on for only 1 week. If I stayed and they came in 37 months they would be really worried about me. I thought to myself, my lucky sailors hat is really so lucky after all!

Hieroglyphic narrative

Post 1 of the Blog Post Challenge

For writing last week, we had to write a narrative using the symbols from our name in the hieroglyphic language. Hieroglyphic symbols are the pictures on the pyramids.

This is my name in hieroglyphics

Double reed leaf, chick, mouth, chick, water, jar stand

Here is my narrative.

Once upon a time in a little village not so far away, there lived a pair of chicks that lived in the wild. These chicks were very unique. Their body was yellow but the had a human mouth. Their names were Lucy and Logan. Lucy was the older twin. She loved to be in charge and tell Logan what to do. Lucy loved to be beautiful and do crafts to help the lane twins survive. She would build huts and houses for them to live in and also she would make fishing gear and tools. Well Logan on the other hand, he was shy. Logan loved to cook like their mother Leah. He loved to eat and sleep. Logan was a very strong swimmer. When the lane twins parents were still here, there dad Lachlan always took Logan to the lake not so faraway from their home. The mother of the family was the cook. Leah loved to cook food using the fish that Lucy caught. She made the best fish soup in all of Duckville.

The lane family was all happy until… Leah and Lachlan set off to find some firewood together. Lucy and Logan were waiting for them to arrive but they never did. No one knows what happened to them and no one ever will because no one will ever see them again. The twins were desperate to see their mother and father again all they wanted to do was be reunited with the whole family again. After that dramatic story they wanted a happy ending so the set off to find their parents.

It had been 14 years since Leah and Lachlan had raised the lane twins. Lucy was frantically prepared all the equipment they needed to set off for their adventure. Logan was busy packing all the things like clothes and all the food that they would need to survive out in the wild. Then they set off to get a good night's sleep for the next morning.

The lane twins set off at the crack of dawn. All Lucy and Logan remembered was that their parents went to collect firewood and they had dent returned by dinner time. The family's favourite spot to collect firewood. It was north of the twins campsite so the headed north to the forest of dancing pines.

They had not traveled for very long and Lucy and Logan had come across a pond full of dancing double reed leaves. They both said at the same time “ how do we get past these leaves?” Luckily they had the skills get past these tricky obstacles. Lucy had built some special sharp scissors that can cut through anything. Logan told Lucy, “ we'd better get started on this lot is we want to get to the forest of dancing pines tonight.”

Soon after they arrived at Planty Pond they had got to the other side of the shallow waters. Lucy and logan thought they had just finished but they were just getting started. There was more trouble to come as they move on with the adventure. Night had fell and the sky had gone to sleep. All the animals had gone to bed except… The lane twins. They were wide awake trying to get to sleep. Tossing and turning all night was all they did.

The next morning the twins were up very early to continue with their adventure. They soon came across a lake full of purple water. The lake of doom. Luckily Lucy knew how to build a very sturdy boat that could fit 2 people. Lucy rushed to build a boat. She worked her butt off all night. Sometimes she thought it was no use but then she remembered that is was to rescue their parents.

When the day woke up, the sun was up high in the sky. Lucy and Logan woke up to the sound of the waves from the purple lake of doom. Lucy and Logan quickly woke up so they could get moving. They set the boat on the water. First Lucy hopped into the boat, then Logan hopped into the boat and plopped onto the wooden seat.

“1 2 3 change 1 2 3 change” Lucy yelled at Logan. The water was very shallow so the ores got stuck in the orange seaweed. They finally decided to just paddle with their blue wings. Logan's ore got stuck on a jar stank that looked that it had been there for 100 years. Soon after they woke, Lucy and Logan got to the other side of the lake of doom. Logan had very good eye site. From the lake Logan could spot the forest of dancing pines. It didn't look that far away from where they were.

Lucy thought to herself, this is taking way longer that she had thought it would have taken her. They had travelled far and long and they had finally reached their destination. The trees were tall and they had pine cones hanging from the bushy leaves like Christmas ornaments. It was like a Christmas wonderland.

2 lovely looking trees greeted us at a big gate. They said if you want to come in, you have to complete this riddle. What walks on 4 legs when it is young. What walks on 2 legs when it is older. And what walks on 3 legs when it is old. Lucy and Logan were desperate so they thought really hard. On Logan first guess he guessed a human because when you are a baby, you crawl. When you are older you walk. When you are old you walk on two legs and a walking stick. The dancing pines were really surprised that they got it on their first try. The big golden gate opened and a whole new world was born.

Four legs traveled on the rocky gravel road. Four beady eyes scanned the area like lightning. They had not traveled for very long and they saw a cage in the middle of the rocky road inside the cage was all sorts of weird things like snakes and lions and a jar stand, but the 2 things that caught the lane twins beady eyes was Leah's long blonde hair and Lachlan's gold bow tie. The twins were ecstatic to see their parents.

On top of a jar stand, there was a set of green keys. To save the family they had to grab the keys and open the door. The dancing pines hadn't realised what Lucy and Logan were doing. Lucy had made a claw ahead of time. Using her super power of strength, the green keys were in the keyhole but there were 10 other keys. They tried all of the keys until one of them would fit.

“Click” went the key. This key was shaped as a tree. Leah and Lachlan raced out of what seemed like a prison yard. There was lots of hugs and kisses. Once they left the golden gates, the dancing pines said goodbye but then they realised that their prisoners had left. On the way back to camp, they shared their weird but amazing stories with each other. Hand in hand everyone was happy. Leah and Logan said at the same time. Life with the dancing pines was interesting but cool. All they ate was plant food. We lived on plant food for 14 years. All that adventure to get firewood but we never came back with any!

Global warming argument

Global warming

Global warming is one of the many environmental issues that is affecting the earth, living things and human survival. I believe that global warming is a problem that should be getting our attention.

Global warming is also known as climate change or the greenhouse gas effect. Without greenhouse gases the Earth would be too cold for humans to live and survive on. Greenhouse gases occur naturally or are created by humans actions. Most scientists say that the impact of human actions to greenhouse gases is causing the temperature to be rising more and more. Humans are tempted to burn fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas. The atmosphere is like a blanket that wraps around the earth's surface. We are putting more and more greenhouse gases into the Earth's atmosphere and trapping heat and causing the Earth to be hotter. If we don't stop it, it will feel like summer all the time!

Global warming is affecting the nature around us. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and therefore manages the heat around us. But human beings are cutting down trees which leads to deforestation. They are cutting down trees to have more space to build more houses. If there are no more trees left, the trees can't manage the heat. It is another way that causes global warming.

Global warming is starting to affect the coral reefs. The coral reefs are created in the shallow parts of the tropical waters. They are created by millions of tiny little animals called corals. Each little coral makes a little skeleton for itself over time. Then the little skeleton build up and form the coral reef. The coral reef provides homes for lots of little creatures in the sea. The warmer weather has already started to affect the coral reef because it causes it to bleach. Soon coral reefs will become really rare because of warmer weather which causes warmer water and ocean acidity which caused by lots of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

Global warming is causing lots of problems by our own seaside. Global warming is causing extreme weather patterns and affecting our ocean and sea life. The sea levels are rising due to the melting of glaciers and ice sheets. Because of global warming, less fresh water will be available for animals and humans. Floods and droughts would come more often and storms and hurricanes would become stronger.

Global warming is affecting ecosystems because it is causing animals to move. Animals can't live in places which are different to their home because they are not suited to other environments. This is causing more and more animals to become extinct. Global warming has affected the migration plans of animals and plants are having to change when they do different activities. For example when the flowers are in bloom and when they pollinate.

To stop global warming you need to follow these simple steps. Plant more trees. Save energy. Save money. Save hot water. Turn off electronics devices when not in use.

Before reading this you might of thought that global warming wasn’t real but now you know that it is real and the causes and what it affects. I believe that global warming is an immense problem for not only yourself but animals and the environment as well. If we don't stop global warming it will become a bigger problem and cause further problems in the future. If everyone makes a little difference, we can all make a big change.

Fathers day

My dad is really one of the most special things in my life. Each and everyday I always look forward to seeing him after school. We have made some very special memories together. He is the best dad that I could ever have wished for.  He is a really good cook and loves to play badminton. When my mum isn't home he is a really good babysitter for me and my little sister. He enjoys to be with us and we enjoy to be with him too!

He spend lots of time cooking for the family and friends. One of my greatest memories with my dad was at his old cafe Lemons Cafe. I remember once I was watching my dad make a hot chocolate and I used to steal marshmallows when he wasn't looking.

I love my dad because you are one of a kind. You love to go swimming and play badminton with me. You spend lots of time doing the kinds of things that we like to do with us. He has taught me most of the things that I know about badminton.
You always have a smile on your face whether it's raining or a sunny day. He always makes me feel special when I don't feel well. He is a really good dad to me. So………………Happy Father's Day Dad!
Have an awesome Father's Day!

Agency target

We are learning about agency. This is a piece of writing that explains what we have been learning about and what agency is.

Agency

In GRI11 2.0 agency is knowing and doing what is best for our learning.

The agency target is made up of 6 parts. Learning pit, learning spaces, striving for excellence, collaboration, managing and designing my own learning and knowing myself as a learner. There is a red layer, orange layer, and a green layer. The red layer means that you have a teacher telling you what to do (teacher guidance), the orange layer means you can do it by yourself but not all the time (managing self). The green layer means you can do what's best for your learning all the time (empowered agentic).

GRi11 2.0 AGENCY - Agency Target .jpg
This is the agency target. It looks kinda like a target

The learning pit

The learning pit is when you push yourself into the learning pit. It will be hard at first but if you try your best you can get out. You will go out of your comfort zone and are comfortable with failing. You will challenge yourself and knows that failing is learning in progress.

Learning spaces

In GRi11 2.0 we have to know and do what's best for our learning. This is my learning goal. I need to learn how to choose where I learn, who I learn with and what space I learn in. When I need to do something that uses collaboration I can't go into the quiet space. We have to do what's best for us and our learning task.

Striving for excellence

Sometimes I just talk to my friends and get things done really quickly and rush all my work. That isn't trying very hard and striving for excellence. In GRi11 2.0 we are allowed to talk to our friends but we have to try our best.

Collaboration

Collaboration is when you work with two or more people. It requires you to work together and use teamwork to get the task done. It means that you can collaborate with different people for different purposes.

Managing and designing my own learning

Managing and designing my own learning means that you are completely responsible with your own learning. You can do things yourself without being told by the teacher. You can go through the inquiry process without the teacher giving you instructions.

Knowing myself as a learner

Knowing myself as a learner means that you control what you do with your own learning. You can choose what workshops that you go to not what your best friend goes to. It is completely individual.

The agency target reminds me that i’m still learning to be an agentic learner and reminds me what i’m supposed to do at the time.

Italy

Italy

Italy is a country in the northern and eastern hemisphere of the world. It is located in the southern part of Europe. It is shaped like a boot. It has a population of 59.83 million. It’s currency is euro and they use the languages ‎Italian‎, Spanish, Albanian, Romanian, Hungarian,Romani‎, and Italian Sign Language‎.

Major environmental issues include air pollution from transport. Because of weather conditions, traffic has been caused, then it traps air pollution close to the ground.

It's flag is green white and red. The colours are in 3 even vertical stripes. The colors on the flag represent: hope (green), faith (white), and charity (red).

Italy is a lovely place to have a holiday because it is the world’s largest wine producer. Tourist attractions include the leaning tower of Pisa, the gondolas in Venice and the colosseum.

Italy is one of the 206 countries competing in the 2016 Rio Olympic
Games. With 295 athletes competing for Italy I hope they bring back lots gold.

Holiday haiku

This term instead of writing a recount about our holidays we decided to write a haiku.
A haiku is a Japanese poem. It is 3 lines long. The first and last line is 5 syllables long. The second line is 7 syllables long.
Can you guess what I did in the holidays?

Swimming sports

On Tuesday the 12th of April the Senior syndicate of College Street Normal School took a bus down to the Lido Aquatic Centre to hold the swimming sports. Once we settled into the pool the non-championship events started. The events you could enter for non-championship were freestyle, backstroke, breast stroke and flutter board.

I entered freestyle and breast stroke. First it was my freestyle race and my mum was here to cheer me on. It didn't go so well though. But my second race went a lot better. I came 1st. After my race my mum was so proud. Soon after it was the time when the real races started. I cheered my socks off (even though I didn't have socks on at that time) for my friends.

The time had come for me to swim against my friends. First it was the breast stroke finals. I was in it and I came 2nd. I could hear my friends cheering for me from the side line. Once I found out I had come 2nd I was very proud of myself and I know that my dad would be proud too.

Straight after my breast stroke race it was time for my butterfly race. I was very tired because I had just raced. I had only entered butterfly because I knew that not many people would enter and there was only 3. That meant that I would have gotten a medal even though I had come last. Soon I was off the block and swimming in the pool. It felt like I was coming last until I had come first and gotten an orange stick. I was so proud of myself and after wards. I could see my mum and my grandma smiling at me.

I couldn't wait to swim in the relay team for kea. At first we were coming last but in the end we came 3rd.

I couldn't wait to tell my dad all the good news. I am so proud of myself.

The Weet-bix Tryathlon

On the 24th of March it was the day of the Weet-bix Tryathlon.  It was an icy cold day and I was cold in my clothes. All the tents had been set up at Ongley park the day before. I carefully wheeled my bike so that my stuff didn't fall off. I was really excited for the tryathlon because I had done it last year and nearly all my friends were competing.

Quickly, I wheeled my bike to the transition tent so I didn't get wet. All the 10 year old boys and girls got a light blue swimming cap and you got it once the people scanned the code. After I found a spot to put my bike and I greeted my friend Ivy on the way out. Finally I could relax and enjoy all the stands.

Once it was race time the teachers explained what would happen. It was a gloomy day outside and we had to stand in the rain for 30 minutes until we were under the tent. I thought the pool was going to be cold but once I hopped into the pool it was as warm as a spa.

We had to swim 100 metres bike 4 km and run 1.5 km. Once we were off the nervous butterflies in my stomach flew away and I went really smoothly through the race. At the end of the race I crossed the line, very proud of myself. At the end I got a photo of me and my friends Lara, Stevie, Zara and
myself. I got an apple and an ice block and of course a medal

I am so proud of myself and I am definitely coming back next year.

Being a cave explorer

Being a cave explorer

The black car wheels screeched on the gravel road as the big white car pulled up on the road. I hopped out of the car and as soon as I hopped out I felt free. W walked into the shop and ordered some food. The shop owner started to get really angry and flustered but he got to the end at last. All 7 of us enjoyed our frozen treat as we strolled over to the site. We said goodbye to my father who was going to have a rest before he drives us back home.

It was a long ride to the cave but the scenery was beautiful. Once we entered the cave the guide had told us what would happen. It was amazing once we entered the cave. They warned it was going to be cold and they were right. The glow worms were amazing. They looked like little stars shinning bright in the night sky.

After the crazy experience of seeing the cute little glow worms we went to a little hut to try some tea. the tea wasn't normal because it was made of some leaves that was in the entrance of the cave. I didn't really like it but my auntie and uncle loved it.

I loved seeing the glow worms put on a little show as we travelled through the cave. I would like to say thank you to my dad because he was the one that drove us there and he made me do it and it was totally worth it. I love the glow worm cave and I hope next time my mum and dad can join us as we became little cave explorer.

Favourite space in GRi11 2.0

10/3/16

My favourite space in GRi11 2.0 is a quiet space. sometimes it is noisy. Most of the time it is a teaching space or a learning space for all the pupils in GRi11 2.0. It always has people in it. If your wondering what it looks like it is the biggest space in the classroom. The walls always have eyes staring at me. Sometimes the furry blue wall is pulling funny faces at me. There are rainbows everywhere. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and pink. It is always a happy place. Memories are placed everyday and everywhere.
Parties are celebrated happily. Music is playing loudly everyone is listening in my favourite space. A chilly piece of furniture is placed in the corner of the classroom.

Things are getting forgotten and rubbed out on the wall. Great opportunities are being given throughout all the students. Masterpieces are created and hung on the wall. People roam around and talk all the time. The worn out carpet isn't very soft but I still like how it feels. Noise is placed on the ground. Lots of mouths are being opened and closed. Hungry all day they eat stationary and books. Small televisions open and close and talk all day. Sometimes they need a little rest and charge. All spaces are different.

Even though this space doesn't have stars it is my favourite space in GRi11 2.0.
The hub is my favourite space of all time.

Sixtus Lodge Camp 2016

It was a race to camp. Through the windy roads , up and down the hills. Finally we were there. It was a race to see the camp sign first and I won. Once everyone was at the camp site we settled in to our dorm rooms.

I was really excited for camp until Miss G and told us we were going on a 2-3 hour tramp. After lunch we set off for the tramp. I was actually really proud of myself after it. I had walked so long while sweating the whole way. Once we walked back it was dinner time. Usually I don't eat much at home but after the long walk I was starving.

After dark we ventured off to the glow worm cave. The glow worms were like tiny stars in the sky. It was amazing. But to get to the glow worms I went through water but it was freezing cold water. I didn't want to get my feet wet but there was no way to avoid it.

The next day we went to do a river walk. It was like the glow worm cave because we went through it and carried on. This time the water was deeper and there was more cold water to try avoid. It was really fun when we went through this slit through the rock. The water was up to my knees and there were rocks everywhere.

Once we got back from the river it was time for horse riding. I really excited because I had been on a horse before when I was smaller. I was a little wobbly at first but then I got the hang of it. They were so gentle and the listened to what I wanted to do. I loved it so much that I didn't want to get off the sweet little horse. I could do it all day.

After dinner it was time for the burma trail. At first I was not scared at all but after everyone came out I was really afraid. Once I went into the bush I was not scared after I faced my fears.
Camp was all about facing our fears and having lots and lots of fun. After my amazing time at camp I think i've over come them. It has given many memories and hopefully there will be more to come once I journey through life!
